Why Join?

All officers of the society are voluntary and unpaid. Only a small amount of money is needed for administration such as postage and production of the BTS magazine, 'Tanzanian Affairs'. Any money left over is put in a general fund and will be spent on projects in Tanzania or by giving special assistance to communities.

By joining you will become a part of a small, albeit vital, charity that has already helped improve the lives of hundreds of underprivileged Tanzanians. It also provides an updated insight into Tanzanian current affairs.

Members' Benefits

You will also be eligible for the following:

BTS Publications

"Tanzanian affairs" - is a magazine (3 issues per year) containing articles and essays discussing current affairs in Tanzania. They vary from an 'opinion on school fees' by a farmer from the western Usambara mountains to a report on the new anti corruption measures to news of the political scene - a diverse publication.

The BTS 'Newsletter' is also published 3 times a year and gives news of seminars, BTS tours and receptions.

BTS Seminars

You would also have the right to attend all the seminars and meetings set up by the BTS. This would give you the opportunity to have a say on how you think the projects should be run and promote new ideas.

BTS Tours

Tours - Recently, the society has promoted a study tour each year (usually in July) to Tanzania which is a mixture of fun and serious inquiry. It is also a good opportunity to get on terms with local people in each of the BTS project areas. For further details of BTS and other such tours, contact Tony Janes at enquiries@simplytanzania.co.uk.
